In-Grown Nail Removal Surgery

Ingrown toenail surgery is a minor procedure carried out under local anaesthetic to provide long-term relief from painful or recurring ingrown nails. Once the toe has been numbed, the podiatrist removes either part of the nail (partial nail removal) or, in some cases, the whole nail.

To help prevent the issue returning, a specialised solution is applied to the treated section to stop regrowth of the problematic nail edge, making this a permanent solution for many patients.

After the procedure, careful aftercare is important, including regular redressing and keeping the toe clean and dry. Most patients heal within 2–4 weeks, although healing time may vary depending on age, health and circulation.
