Biomechanical Assessment
A biomechanical assessment is a detailed evaluation of how your feet and lower limbs function when standing and moving. By assessing posture, foot structure, joint movement and muscle balance, we can identify problems that contribute to pain, injury or long-term strain.
Your podiatrist will look at how your foot mechanics affect the ankles, knees, hips and lower back and will create a tailored treatment plan. This may include footwear advice, stretching/strength work, orthotic insoles, and long-term prevention strategies. A biomechanical assessment alongside our gait analysis, is particularly useful for active patients, runners, and those with recurring injuries or long-term discomfort.
A biomechanical assessment may help if you suffer with:
-
Tired, aching or sore feet
-
Heel pain / plantar fasciitis (plantar fasciosis)
-
Joint pain (feet, ankles, knees, hips)
-
Shin splints
-
Bunions
-
Morton’s neuroma
-
Pronation / fallen arches
-
Stress fractures / metatarsal pain
-
Sesamoiditis
-
Diabetic foot concerns

Gait Analysis
Gait analysis examines how you walk and run, assessing alignment, movement patterns, weight distribution and foot function. Subtle gait issues can lead to foot pain and contribute to injuries further up the body, including the ankles, knees, hips and lower back.
This assessment is particularly useful for active patients, runners, and those with recurring injuries or long-term discomfort.
Gait analysis can help with:
-
Sports injuries and overuse pain
-
Plantar fasciitis / heel pain
-
Knee or hip strain linked to poor foot mechanics
-
Pronation / supination issues
-
Improving comfort and movement efficiency
